MISSION STATEMENT:
We are dedicated health professionals offering innovative professional competencies in healthcare to young men and women with a difference for the greatest satisfaction to desired health needs of communities".

VISION:
Years of experience have shown that, the provision of adequate health care still leaves much to be desired. This is due to inadequate infrastructure in part & to a larger extent on the type of healthcare providers found in our health care settings.

Most find themselves there only as a means of earning a living or going abroad. Our aim
therefore, is geared towards training young
men and women who have the vocation
imbedded in them to save lives.

GOAL:
Our goal is to provide adequate training to young men and women who have the vocation imbedded in them, to promote health and preserve life through dedicated and selfless service.

COURSES OFFERED:
We offer effective training in various Para-medical fields leading to the award of an HND (Higher National Diploma).
These include:

Nursing (Diplome d'Etat)

Laboratory Technolog

Pharmacy Technology

Radiology & Ultrasound Technology

Community Development & Sanitation

Physiotherapy

Dental Therapy

 
 
TRAINING PROGRAMS:
DURATION HND COURSES: 3years

 
The first year shall be a preparatory year and the last two in fields of choice.  

G.C.E Advanced Level passes in at least two
subjects, (Sciences), or it's equivalent.
Direct entry into second year for students with a Bachelors Degree in related fields.
Direct entry into second year for students seeking a transfer from recognized institutions.

They must show proof of good performance.
Entry by(Competitive examination (CONCOUR) set by the Ministry of Public Health Yaoundé.

SPECIAL CASES SENT BY HOSPITALS AS PART OF IN-SERVICE TRAINING OF STAFF. (These must have a Nurses Aid certificate, appropriate "O" Level papers and a minimum of 4 years working experience).
"Having the calling" to join the medical core is a basic prerequisite for admission.

There is orientation of candidates at the beginning of the school year in which they are given career options and opportunities in the different fields of study.

N.B. All candidates for admission must have: A Certificate of proficiency obtained from the Bamenda Linguistic Center.

In this regard all French or Spanish-speaking candidates will be expected to enroll for an intensive English Language Course with the Linguistic Center. Non - nationals do not sit the public service. Entrance examination into HIN-HEBS. They apply
directly through their respective embassies in Yaoundé, who then contact the Ministry of Health Yaounde.

Classes begin on the FIRST MONDAY of October each year.

CONTINUING EDUCATION:
Short courses lasting four to six months will be designed for health personnel (nurses and allied medical staff) in different areas of specialization who are already in the field in the CEMAC zone and beyond. The purpose of this is to allow a well-structured environment for staff to upgrade knowledge and skills with the fast changing times so as to stay abreast with development in the medical field and be current in management of patients and the community.

This will take away the feeling and sense of stagnation, provides zeal in the workers and empowers them to be more creative and productive.

HIV & AIDS:
HIV/AIDS is an elective course. Students are encouraged to attend lectures, seminars and workshops pertaining to HIV/AIDS.

FEES:
Tuition fees are payable in one installment at the beginning of the first semester. However, half of this fee is acceptable and must be completed by the beginning of the second semester. Exams are not written when fees are outstanding.

UNIFORMS:
The only accepted uniform is the one prescribed by the institution. In this regard all students are entitled to a pair or more of the official uniform at their cost from the official designer as directed by the institution.
