B)              BSC. / Licence Program in Radiology & Ultra Sonography

As part of the strategy to provide the much needed specialized healthcare personnel, the ST LOUIS HIGHER INSTITUTE OF HEALTH is starting a new program in October 2008 in the above mentioned branch of medical care.

DESCRIPTION OF THE STATE OF THE SPECIALTY:

Proper diagnosis is the key to proper treatment, quick recovery and efficiency in managing patients and their multiple problems. In this area, radiology and ultra-sonography (Echography) stand tall in helping doctors, nurses and patients in solving problems.

This field of studies has been largely neglected over the years. While the Medical School has been training a few medical doctors in this specialty, there has been a total lack of training of mid-level personnel in the same.

There are therefore, a lot of job opportunities for trainees in our public and private health systems.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

This course is meant for qualified NURSES with the following certificates:

HPD NURSING, DSEP NURSING, 1^st Degree NURSING, BTS NURSING, HND

NURSING, DIPLOME D’ETAT NURSING.

Candidates MUST also show proof of having obtained the GCE ‘A” Level or BACC.

 A strong science background is not obligatory but is highly recommended. Classes begin in NOVEMBER 3, 2008 .

DURATION OF TRAINING

2 years.

70% of the course is practical. 15% is made up of frontal lectures in which the Physics underlying the technology is taught as well as a review of Anatomy and Pathology. 15% is a PBL/PBE (PROBLEM BASED LEARNING or PROBLEM BASED Education) approach. Students research through the library and internet to come up with structured answers to clinical problems which they share amongst themselves.

FEES AND OTHER FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS

400.000 Frs. /year (tuition only).

Other financial engagements include internet fees, student He card, Report card, Student Union Dues, Uniforms, contribution to university games, 2 realms of 80 grams paper, book fees.

Students should have enough money for their daily upkeep and  for traveling out of Bamenda to practical training sites in Bafoussam, Douala and Yaoundé.

Dure de formation pour le HPD (DSEP) : 3 ans

La première année est une année  préparatoire pour tous les étudiants.

Les deux dernières années se déroulent dans une filière au choix

Nous offrons une formation dans des domaines variés se terminant par un accès a l’examen du HPD (Higher Professsional Diplôma) lancé par le ministre de l’enseignement supérieur. Le Ministère de la Santé Publique  délivré une qualification similaire a ses candidats formes dans notre institution.

Nous formons donc en :

1. Nursing Diplôme d’Etat
2. Pharmacie
3. Odontostomatologie
4. Kinésithérapie
5. Technique de Laboratoire

CONDITIONS D’ADMSSION

S’il vous plait prenez note de ces  qui déroutent de nombreux camerounais  a notre sujet :

1. Nous  fonctionnons sous deux autorisations ; l’une du Ministère de l’Enseignement Supérieure et l’autre du Ministère de la Santé Publique.
2. Tous les étudiants sont qualifies a écrire le HPD après trois ans de formation. Ces examens sont fixer et lancés  par le Ministère d l’Enseignement Supérieur. L’admission des étudiants en première année se fait par inscription directe et vous n’avez pas besoin de passer un concours ou un examen compétitif. Ceci se fait plutôt sus présentation du diplôme du BACC ou du GCE A Level ou encore d\une licence. L’autorisation du ministère  couvre ainsi les filières Nursing,  Pharmacie, Odontostomatologie, Kinésithérapie et  Technique de Laboratoire
3. Le Ministère de la Santé Publique  forme un groupe d’étudiants spécialement en Kinésithérapie en Odontostomatologie et en Pharmacie. Ceux-ci ont été admis après un examen compétitif lance par le Ministère de la Santé Publique chaque année .
4. La formation est uniquement en anglais.
5. FRAIS DE SCOLARITEE.

       350 000frs/ans

AUTRES  CONDITIONS FINACIERES

La carte d’identité scolaire,les frais du bulletin de note, l’assurance , les frais d’Internet, un mandat pour les livre, les frais de coopérative scolaire, deux rames de papiers 80g , une tenue de sport, 5000frs frais de soutien aux jeux universitaires.

Au moins une moitie de la pension doit être payer avant le début des cours le premier Lundi du mois d’Octobre de chaque année.

LES UNIFORMES

 Le seul uniforme agrée par l’école est tel que prescrit par l’institution. Pour cela les étudiants doivent  en avoir une paire ou plusieurs, ceci a leur propre frais, comme décide par  le designer officiel choisi par l’institution.
